The White Abode
Situated in Mandya, this project gave us the chance to experiment with the concepts of light, colour and Jain Architecture. Our client Mr Ramesh Jain came to us with the following distinct set of elements to incorporate into the design: Jain culture inspired design, a central courtyard, a white-based colour palette and a special emphasis on light.
As the central courtyard was meant to be the focal point of this project, we allowed the design to flow around it. Using large windows with minimal sill height, we created a stream of constant natural light. We also used the client’s favorite movie, TRON, as the inspiration for indoor lighting. After creating the perfect balance of natural and artificial lighting, we incorporated white interiors, light-colored flooring and soft detailing to pull the entire design together.
